We are thrilled to share that First Mile has been recognised at the MRW Recycling Awards 2024.
Not only were we shortlisted in four categories, but we also walked away with two prestigious awards: Independent Operator of the Year and Employee Training and Skills.
The MRW Recycling Awards are a highlight in the waste and recycling sector, celebrating excellence across a range of areas in sustainability, innovation, and leadership. To be nominated in four categories is fantastic in itself, but to win two is a great achievement for the team.
Here’s a closer look at the awards we collected on Tuesday night:
Independent Operator of the Year
The Independent Operator of the Year award recognises businesses that have shown exceptional commitment to providing waste management solutions that are both innovative and sustainable. Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire First Mile team.
At First Mile, we’ve always been driven by a mission to change the way waste is managed in the UK. Whether it’s through our commitment to providing tailored recycling solutions, our focus on helping customers reduce their carbon footprint, or our continuous investment in the latest technologies, we’re always striving to make a real difference for our customers and the environment.
Employee Training and Skills
The Employee Training and Skills award is one that is particularly close to our hearts. At First Mile, we believe that our people are our greatest asset, with this award encompassing one of our core values ‘Be One Team’.
We won this award for our in-house training programmes for Cyclists and Cat B drivers, led by our trainer Anton. Our award-winning in-house training ensures that all our drivers are trained to the highest standard in all areas such as safety, compliance, sustainability and more. The judges were impressed with how we identified a problem that needed solving, found there was no training available and created a course to fill the gap!
