Plastic bags have an average “useful life” of 15 minutes - after that, they're likely to end up in a landfill. That's because flexible plastics, also known as "2D plastics", don’t do well in Dry Mixed Recycling as their material is difficult to recycle. But not impossible!
So if you’re wondering how to recycle plastic bags or flexible plastics in general and are on the hunt for a cost-effective, sustainable and reliable service, then look no further than First Mile.
We can take care of all your flexible plastic recycling needs and can provide dedicated recycling bins and sacks for your business premises. Whether your company office is looking to get rid of their old plastic pouches and recycle bubble wrap, or you’re a clothing store needing to dispose of your off-brand plastic bags, save your flexible plastic recycling for our sacks and we’ll revive it as new bags.
(And don't forget: try to use less if you can!)

How our Flexible Plastic Recycling service works
Fill our sacks with your plastic bag recycling and other relevant materials and we will collect them from outside your business.
All materials are then taken to our depot where they are separated at our award-winning sack-sorting facility, the Sacktory®.
Once sorted, the flexible plastic recycling sacks are baled for onward transportation.
The materials are cleaned and recycled to become black bin bags.
Recycling responsibly and reusing your plastics has never been so important. Alongside the growing concern for our planet comes a greater need for companies to ensure they are doing everything possible to help.
