City, University of London
Their Challenge
Founded in 1852, City University London is a leading international institute and one top-ranked universities in the People and Planet University league.
City University London wanted to reduce the amount of recycling lost in General Waste and boost their recycling rate. They also needed a flexible collection schedule that could be scaled up during busy term times, which sees an influx of students creating more waste like food coffee cups, and packaging.
First Mile's Solution
We carried out an initial waste audit which resulted in the launch of internal collections for coffee cups, lids and liquid during term time, which significantly increased their recycling rate. Their dedicated account manager also held multiple recycling workshops for students during welcome week to enhance their student's knowledge of recycling practices.
